Dues

Dues

Most extracurricular activities are seasonal and often start at $100 for programs that last a few weeks. Scouting is a year-round program that remains one of the most valuable investments we can make to support young men and women today so they can become the leaders we will turn to tomorrow.

Scouting Dues are made up of three portions: 1) National, 2) Council and 3) Pack dues:

National Dues registers the Scout with BSA and covers the cost of essential program resources, liability insurance for those participating in approved Scouting activities, youth protection and other national-managed resources. .  Current National dues are $85 per year.

Council Dues support the operations of the Simon Kenton Council which includes council events, salary of council staff, and upkeep of council properties (camps). Current council dues are $60 per calendar year and are prorated.

Pack Dues support the Pack directly by covering cost of events, earned awards, and other administrative fees like leadership training. Pack dues are currently $35 per school calendar year.

Scout Life (SL) is the BSA official magazine.  If you wish to receive an annual subscription please include additional $15 in your dues payment.

Fundraising

Although the Pack collects some dues, a large portion of the Pack funding is obtained by participating in fall popcorn sales. This is our main fundraising project. The more funds available to the Pack leadership the more amazing programs that can be provided for our Scouts.

Financial Assistance

Dues and expenses should not be a barrier for youth wanting to join Cub Scouting.  Pack 318 is willing to work with any family to establish a payment schedule for dues and/or assist them with securing scholarship support from Simon Kenton Council.  Additionally, working with other pack families through our Uniform Exchange, you may be able get gently used uniform shirts or borrow a tent and sleeping bag for the weekend campout.  Please contact the Cubmaster or Pack Treasurer on these options.
